Preparing Your Husband For His First In-Office Semen Analysis

I'll be writing a blog post all about our semen analysis and what the findings were, we are still waiting for the morphology report. But for now, I wanted to share some tips for comforting your partner and making sure that they are prepared for their in-office semen analysis. Not all of us are lucky to live close by our fertility clinic, I live just over an hour away so we really didn't have any other option. Our clinics rule is if you get the sample at home, it has to be delivered to the office within an hour after collection. We just couldn't make that work. My husband was such a trooper, he didn't complain a bit. Here are five things that could help make the experience not so awkward and uncomfortable for your partner;

How To Prepare for Your First HSG (Hysterosalpingography)

I felt so awkward undressing and sitting on this table. The one-sheet was very small and hardly covered my lab so my butt was showing from behind. Not a cute look! The doctor came in the room, and not the same doctor I saw at my consultation, introduced himself, explained what we were doing today, and told me how to put my legs in the stirrups. About 20 seconds after my legs were in the air, the catheter was already inserted in my cervix. This guy was good, I didn't feel a thing. There was a speculum in there just like a pelvic exam but they don't have to open it as wide (at least that's what it felt like to me) and the only thing I felt was a little pressure when he inserted the catheter. It felt a lot like having to pee, honestly.

A Consult With The Reproductive Endocrinologist

He agreed that the next step was an HSG (which my OBGYN told me would be next) but he gave me two options. Option one is have the HSG and if there is any blockage or concern, then we will do the surgery to surgically diagnosis and remove the Endometriosis and fix whatever issue is going on with the tubes. Option two, go ahead with the surgery, diagnosis and treat the Endometriosis and take a look at the tubes, run the dye, etc. He told me that he thinks I should do option one, because it’s obviously less invasive and he would rather not do surgery if he doesn’t have to. I agreed!

"It's Been A Year And I'm Still Not Pregnant, What's Next?"

Going into this appointment, I didn't know what to expect. I mean, I've never done this before. I didn't know if they could do any of the needed procedures there. I didn't know how quickly I could get a referral. I had a lot of questions and felt like my doctor answered all of them.

Although I feel a lot better, I just don't know how we got here. A year ago, we had a conversation to start trying to conceive and now we are making appointments with a fertility clinic.

Product Review of FertiliTea

If you follow me on Instagram then you may have already seen a few of my Instagram stories. I’ve been drinking FertiliTea this cycle and I’m genuinely hoping that it does help me get pregnant. I’m a huge hot tea lover and I’ve thought about purchasing FertiliTea for awhile but of course, I was skeptical. If you love to research like I do, then you know that researching what hot teas are safe to drink is nearly impossible because there is a lot of mixed reviews but FertiliTea is designed to help you get pregnant so I felt like I could trust the product.

What Time Has Taught Me

Now that I am officially in my twelfth cycle of trying to conceive our first little baby C, I've reflected on the last 12 months/cycles because I've learned a lot. I've not only learned a lot about my body, my cycle, my wants and needs, but I've learned a lot about myself and my marriage with my husband. All are really good things but I've learned a lot and although this time has been hard and trying -- at least something good is coming from it.
